We are a firm based in the West Midlands dedicated to providing a payroll service tailored to our client’s individual needs at a highly competitive price.

We use Brightpay Payroll; this is fully accredited and meets the rigorous standards demanded by HM Revenue & Customs, so you can rest assured all legislative changes are updated automatically.


David Rushe


David joined Malcolm Piper & Co Chartered Accountants as a school leaver in 1996 and stayed with the company for 10 years. Throughout this period David worked in a variety of roles before specialising in payroll, becoming the firm’s Payroll Manager in 2000.

Realising that payroll was becoming more specialised, David set up The Payroll Shop Ltd in 2006.

Although the processing team at the Payroll Shop Ltd has grown, David still enjoys overseeing the larger legislative requirements in the running of a tailored payroll bureau, and deals with the more complex and technical queries that arise.

Lucy O’Callaghan

Payroll Manager

Lucy first started in payroll at the age of 17 as an apprentice for a recruitment agency running a large weekly payroll. Since then, Lucy has gained experience, skills and knowledge in all areas of payroll including working with a large number of clients which vary in pay frequency and the number of employees.

Lucy joined The Payroll Shop in October 2018 as a Payroll Administrator, initially processing smaller client payrolls and completing administration. Lucy has proven to be an excellent addition to The Payroll Shop team, culminating in her progression first to Senior Payroll Administrator and then again to Payroll Manager.

As well as processing our larger payroll clients, Lucy also manages the rest of our payroll team to ensure the day to day processing runs smoothly.
